The961 is looking to hire 2-3 experienced journalists to join The961 team, to write articles primarily for The961 News section (the961.com/news). This person must have a strong command of English as well as Lebanese/Arabic, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and is able to contribute their experience to the team.

Responsibilities:

• Write articles for the site daily to provide timely and accurate news.
• Be able to contact relevant people to obtain and verify information as well as request comments.
• Be able to explain concepts/news and write pieces in a simple and concise manner
• Editorial planning, basic photo sources/searching and copy editing as applicable.
• Collaborate with other The961 team members and departments as applicable.

Requirements:

• Extremely strong command of the English language. This is an English-first position. As well as Lebanese/Arabic.
• Study in Journalism preferred.
• A knack for headline writing and understanding of what makes content compelling and shareable.
• Familiarity and knowledge of International Press style guidelines.
• Minimum of two years of professional work experience in a writing role.
• Be able to produce pieces in a timely manner, accurately/factually and under pressure.
• Expert knowledge of Lebanon and Lebanese news, culture, events and other topics of national interest.
• Active social media user.
• Excellent time management, attention to detail, ability to work quickly and consistently hit deadlines.
• Willingness to work evenings and cover live news as required.

• The position is remote however you must be located in Lebanon and be able to work out of our office post-pandemic.
