Job Position: Weld Engineer

Location: Catoosa, OK 74015-3017
Pay Rate: $40.00/hr
Shift: Day Shift (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Type: Direct Hire

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Weld Engineer to join our team at the Port of Catoosa. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in developing and implementing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and acting as a liaison between engineering teams and header bay personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new welding procedures and methods.
  • Act as a liaison between the engineering team and header bay personnel.
  • Communicate with customers regarding welding issues and provide resolutions.
  • Review and assign welding procedure specifications for various jobs.
  • Maintain welder qualifications and test methods for the American Welding Society (AWS) and Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) for the structure department.
  • Calculate weld consumables and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain and update the welding procedure specifications and qualification report database.
  • Coordinate and maintain pressure equipment directive certification.
  • Develop and publish welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification reports, and tube-to-tube sheet mockups.
  • Review and accommodate welding specifications as required.
  • Submit requisitions for laboratory work related to welding processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Minimum of 1 year of post-high school education specifically related to welding (Vo-Tech, military, or community college).
    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and Section IX.
    • Familiarity with AWS D1.1 standards.
    • Knowledge of strength of materials and basic engineering strength calculations.
    • Basic understanding of welding metallurgy and heat treatment processes.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • ASW: Certified Welding Supervisor
    • CWI: Certified Welding Inspector
    • CWEng: Certified Welding Engineer
    • CWB: Canadian Welding Bureau Certification
    • API Certifications: 510, 570, 653
