Summary

The individual in this role will design, assemble, and maintain the mechanical, thermal, and electrical subsystems critical to the development of our quantum computing platform. This individual must be able to work on a wide scope of problems in a highly multidisciplinary team of physicists and engineers with a skill for balancing performance, cost, and schedule. The ideal candidate will bring professional engineering standards and best practices from previous work experience in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design of enclosures for electronic and opto-electronic assemblies.
  • Development of block diagrams, 3D component/assembly models, and wiring diagrams for QuEra’s systems.
  • Assist in formalizing drawings for manufacturability.
  • Coordination with the procurement team to manage contract manufacturing of components and assemblies.
  • Assembly of high-reliability custom subsystems.
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair of mechanical and electrical systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ work experience in a professional engineering environment.
  • Experience and proficiency in design of mechanical parts for CNC manufacturing.
  • Experience with a major 3D CAD software, such as Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience with machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency in preparing mechanical drawings and coordinating with machine shops and/or other contract manufacturers.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ work experience in a professional engineering environment.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Experience with assembly of electrical systems.
  • Experience with manual PCB SMT rework.
  • Experience with wire and cable harness assembly.
  • Experience with facilities management and/or laboratory design.
