Position Description

The IoT Specialist will play a critical role in integrating customer facilities' data with Pani's cloud platform. This role involves technical consulting, hands-on configuration and programming, staying up to date on sensor technology and options for monitoring water plant sensors data analysis to ensure seamless connectivity and effective onboarding of new plants. The IoT Specialist will work closely with sales, onboarding, and software development teams to support customers through the data integration process, assess historical plant data, and optimize performance indicators.

What you bring to the team

  • You will bring an IT or computer science Degree or equivalent experience in network configuration, python programming, instrumentation retrofits at industrial facilities, IoT devices. Familiarity with the water treatment facilities (RO, desalination, wastewater, etc.) is a bonus. Experience with project budgets and proposals and demonstrated ability to work with vendors and system integrators. 
  • Strong project management skills with prior experience in at least 20 IIOT projects at multiple industrial facilities involving establishing connectivity to cloud, instrumentation upgrade, while working with vendors and end-customer's IT and service teams. 
  • Deep understanding of different methods to connect industrial facilities to cloud (data push) and able to execute projects in international markets (different time zones) directly or in partnership with local vendors, that they are able to assess and work with. 
  • Deep understanding of basic instrumentation and new IOT methods to integrate along with knowledge-of/relationship-with vendors in international markets, including USA, Middle East, India. 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to apply engineering concepts to real-world scenarios. Example: strong analytical skills with the ability to identify errors or anomalies in sensor data and mapping; familiarity with network configurations and security. 
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work closely with customer programming staff and vendors, including external IT teams to communicate configuration. 
  • Basic programming understanding & strong familiarity with IIOT/IOT capabilities provided by AWS and other cloud providers. 

Responsibilities 

Technical Consulting and Integration (50%): 

  • Lead and manage small to medium scale IoT and instrumentation projects from technical discovery to identifying appropriate hardware solutions to successful operation. Experience working with IoT devices (PLCs, gateways, routers, switches, firewalls). 
  • Familiarity with industrial sensors (temperature, pressure, chemical, etc.) and the ability to work with 3rd party consultants and companies to create sensor solutions for new and retrofit facilities. 
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time, within scope and meet Pani quality standards 
  • Facilitate communication between Pani technical teams and customer IT team to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines. 

Data Integration and Quality Assessment (25%): 

  • Work with customers to configure their internal networks to push data to the Pani cloud. 
  • Ensure PLCs are connected to the appropriate gateway or data historian/server 
  • Troubleshoot network configurations/settings with customers to accomplish this by providing recommendations for IP address configuration, firewall settings,  
  • Interpret process documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment datasheets to configure Pani platform parameters to map inbound telemetry data into the correct fields.  
  • Upload historical sensor data into the Pani platform using Pani-developed tools and/or Python or excel scripts 
  • Monitor data ingress from multiple facilities and troubleshoot any issues related to customer gateways or data transmission 

Programming and Configuration (25%): 

  • Proficiency in programming gateway devices and generating keys/scripts for data ingress. 
  • Familiarity with the following languages and systems is an asset: IDE Basic (Ewon), Ixon, HydroVu, Sensaphone, Python, and familiarity with IIOT databases such as Ignition, OSI Pi, ETA Pro and replated devices/application. 

Outcomes: 

  • Achieve successful integration of customer data, with clear improvements in data quality and connectivity. 
  • Demonstrate optimized performance through effective KPI configuration and enhanced onboarding efficiency. 
  • Demonstrate technical understanding of IOT landscape – connection with scripts, AWS, basic programming. 

Nice to Have 

  • 1+ years of experience working with software development teams to improve processes
  • Experience in the water industry, ideally in water/wastewater treatment
  • Experience working for a SaaS startup
