Job Description
Mr. Seo's recommendations:
The current JD includes strategic finance (financial strategy, investment analysis, stakeholder relations, board presentation), and covers corporate finance responsibilities beyond accounting (cash flow optimization, investor relations, growth strategies), which would generally require someone with senior level, multi-discipline finance experience, not just accounting expertise. I am sure the Company needs someone who can heavily focus on financial reporting, compliance, record keeping, and budget monitoring- not necessarily on corporate strategy, investment decisions or investor relations. If we keep the current JD as is, candidates will expect significantly higher pay and broader authority than we might intend.
The listed qualifications, 5+ years financial management experience plus CPA or Master’s preferred, Korean fluency, and experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, leadership, and investor communication do not align with the offered $70-$80K, which is more aligned with accounting manager or senior accountant. A strategic finance manager with investment and board-level responsibilities and Korea fluency would require more: $90K-$120K.
My recommendations are:
If we want to keep salary at $70K-$80K, we better narrow the role to accounting manager/ senior accountant scope:
- Focus on financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and audit preparation
- Remove or greatly reduce strategic planning, investment analysis, and investor relations.
- Keep leadership responsibility to managing accounting processes, not full finance department strategy.
