Role Description:


We are supporting a startup US based software focused holding company in their search to find a VP of M&A. The firm focuses on making majority equity investments in niche, profitable, software businesses. The ideal candidate will own relationship and financial elements of transaction diligence, reporting, SMB growth, mentoring and building of the M&A process internally. 

The scope of this role expands well beyond identifying and leading transactions. You will be a strategic partner for the future of this firm.

Responsibilities:

Internal team and process building:

  • Build and manage a team of scrappy, execution oriented M&A professionals. You are to build the culture of your team. 
  • Set a long term strategy for M&A within the organzation and define clear objectives for how to get there, while holding people accountable. 
  • Document and refine our processes so we are always improving. We need someone who is always looking at ways of doing things better/more efficiently and is excited to lead, while not being afraid to get their hands dirty. 

 

New Deal Diligence

  • Assess quality of financial information for new deal opportunities or portfolio tuck-in acquisitions. 
  • Conduct competitive analyses and commercial dilgence processes using creative, data driven strategies. 
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities and nurture relationships for the long term. We think in decades.
  • Analyze financial data and review financial valuation models built by the team. 

 

Requirements

  • Experience in a startup. This is critical.
  • Experience: 10+ years prior work experience in transaction services leading Software transactions end to end, ideally invesment banking, P/E or Holdcos.
  • Deep understanding of financial due diligence.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the documentation and process side of deals. You ideally have seen enough in the space to know where deals succeed and where they fall over, and are able to get over roadblocks creatively while building positive relationships with founders.
  • Advanced Excel, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • You've build and led teams before, and can speak to the results of those teams.
  • Deep knowledge of Software accounting and operations.
