Job Brief:
Position: Project Engineer (Civil Engineer)
Location: Melbourne, Victoria
Job type: Full Time, 38 hours/week
Salary range: AUD 90,000 to 94,000

The Project Engineer at Roadsafe Asphalt Vic is primarily responsible for estimating and quoting projects to ensure profitability. This role also involves planning, managing, and overseeing asphalt paving projects from conception to completion. The Project Engineer will collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to drive successful project outcomes.\

This includes:

  • Pavement reconstruction
  • Subgrade preparation
  • Drainage installation
  • Herb & channel
  • Concrete works
  • Footpaths
  • Carpark construction
  • Service reinstatements
  • Asphalt paving & profiling
  • Line marking & finishing works

The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and achieve target gross profit margins

Responsibilities:

Estimating and Quoting:

  • Prepare accurate estimates and quotes for projects based on detailed analysis of project requirements.
  • Ensure all estimates and quotes are competitive while maintaining profitability.
  • Review and assess project specifications and requirements to develop comprehensive cost estimates.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate project scope and requirements

Technical Oversight:

  • Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Oversee the quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Project Execution:

  • Manage day-to-day project activities, including resource allocation, material procurement, and equipment management.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed on-site.\

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
  • Prepare and submit detailed project reports, including progress, financials, and any deviations from the plan.
  • Facilitate meetings with project stakeholders to review project milestones and deliverables.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices to enhance project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 5 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the asphalt paving or civil constructioh industry.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
